Christy Marie Kessler, 29, of Chicago, and formerly of Ironwood, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She was born Aug. 15, 1978, in Ironwood, the daughter of Dan Kessler and Paula Oberst, and attended Ironwood schools. She received her general education degree in Chicago, and had resided there for the past twelve years, where she worked at United Medical for several years. Surviving are her father and step-mother, Dan and Donna Kessler, of White Pine, Mich.; her mother, Paula DeCicco, Holiday, Fla.; three brothers, Daniel J. Kessler, White Pine, and C.J. DeCicco and Joe Verhaunick, both of Chicago; paternal grandmother, Betty Kessler, maternal grandparents, Terry Ruby and James Oberst, and maternal great-grandmother, Patricia Skovera, all of Ironwood; maternal step-grandfather, Donald Traczyk, of Hurley; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dominic Kessler, and maternal step-grandmother, LaVerne Traczyk. Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal will take place at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Spring inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
