Chestine Merry Knight, 77, of 234 W. Frederick St., Ironwood, died Thursday afternoon, May 17, 2007, in her home. She was born April 9, 1930, in Stotowicy, Poland, daughter of the late John and Julia (Dudek) Buczek, and came to Milwaukee in 1945 at the age of 15. She graduated from high school in the Chicago area in 1948. She was employed as a sales clerk at the Boston Store in Milwaukee, until moving to Florida in 1970. She then returned to Milwaukee in 1972, moving to Trout Creek, Mich. in 1979, and Ironwood in 1995. Chestine was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her nieces and nephews. On Feb. 3, 1968, she married Elwys "Jack" Knight in Waukegan, Ill. He survives. Also surviving are a brother, Gustav Buczek, Milwaukee; a sister, Lusia Perel, Webster, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Harriet Rieter. In accordance with Chestine's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
