Obituary

Cheryl "Cherie" Lynn Massoglia, 54, of Ironwood, Mich., beloved daughter, wife, sister and aunt, entered into Eternal Life with her Heavenly Father Thursday, April 15, 2010, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, after a short battle with liver disease. She was waiting for a liver transplant.      Cherie was born Dec. 6, 1955, in Ironwood, to Herbert and Marlene (Pryor) Ramme, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1974. Following high school, she worked at Hurley Electronics for two years.      On June 5, 1976, Cherie married Dean Massoglia at the First Presbyterian Church in Hurley and moved to Madison a short time later, where she worked for Heurikon Corp. as a production supervisor. Returning to Ironwood in 1990, she worked at Ironwood Plastics, Corullo Forest Products, Newport Lumber Co. and St. Onge Insurance, and at State Farm Insurance up until her illness.      Cherie will be remembered and loved for her thoughtful, caring, giving and loving personality. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews who had a very special place in her heart. She also had a very special love of all animals. She enjoyed canning and cooking and baking for everyone.      Surviving are her husband, Dean, of 33 years; her parents, Herbert and Marlene Ramme, of Ironwood; brothers and sisters, Herb (Lanie) Ramme, Ironwood, Carla (Ted) Brody, Negaunee, Mich., and Dory (Jorge) Cruz and Kyle (Holly) Ramme, both of Ironwood; her father-and-mother-in-law, Joseph and Helen Massoglia, Kimball; sister-and-brother-in-law, Julie and Yasu Masaka, Kenosha; nieces and nephews, Brad (Amy) Ramme, Missy (Terry) Bengry, Lorelei Brody, Gracie (Jeff) Tadlock, Jorge Cruz Jr., Marlene Cruz, Alicia Cruz, Kaitlyn Ramme, Crista Ramme, Emiko Masaka, Kimiyo Masaka, Cherie Brody, Ashlee Ramme, and Emily Ramme; great-nephews, Brett and Drew Ramme; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; her godfather, Leon Pryor, and godmother, Deanna Williams; and her special Dalmatian companion, "Penny".      She was preceded in death by a nephew, Kurt Ramme, in 1972.            Out of respect for Cherie's wishes, cremation has taken place.      Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 2 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with the Rev. Bobby Oberg, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hurley, officiating.      A fellowship luncheon will follow at the Kimball Community Center, 5708 W. Center Drive, in Kimball.      Family and friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday.        To view Cherie's obituary online, sign the guestbook and express condolences, visit mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      Arrangements are entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.      In Cherie's memory, the family would like to ask everyone to consider the gift of organ donation.      Heaven is richer, and this world is poorer, for Cherie's passing.      The pain and the tears may subside, but our love for her never will.
