Charlene Joann
Lintonen
January 3, 1941 – November 7, 2025
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Ironwood, with Pastor Nicole Hanson-Lynn officiating on SATURDAY, November 29, 2025. Interment services are being planned in the spring at Sunset Acres.
Charlene Joann Lintonen, 84, of Ashland and formerly of Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Tamarack Health Center in Ashland.
Charlene was born on January 3, 1941, in Ironwood, the daughter of Charles and Emily (Olkonen) Edwards. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1959 and later earned her associate degree from Gogebic Community College in 1987.
Char began her career in the administration office at the University of Michigan and later worked for Hartford Insurance in Minneapolis. After returning to Ironwood, she was employed with Ernst & Ernst Accounting and most recently at Copps Foods in Hurley in the bakery department. Her favorite role, however—and the one she excelled at most—was being a mom.
On September 7, 1968, Charlene was united in marriage with Robert M. Lintonen. Char loved being a homebody and enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, and watching the Packers. She treasured time spent with her close and longtime friends.
Char will be deeply missed by her son, Brian Lintonen of Ashland; her daughter, Cheryl (Jeff) Schultz of Park Falls; her special nephew, Kevin (Meghan) Ahlstrand, their daughter, Hailey; cousins, Gary(Jody) Olkonen, John Olkonen, Mike Edwards of Ironwood, and Susie (Bob) Gundrum of Sheboygan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, in 2020; and her sister, Marlys Edwards.
The family would like to thank from the bottom of their hearts Jessie Meierotto for her above-and-beyond care. And thank you to Dr. Peter Kebbekus, nurse Jenny, and the whole staff at the Northwest Wisconsin Cancer Center in Ashland.
