Catherine L. "Cathie" Vaara, age 61 of Vaughn St., Ironwood, MI, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the University Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. She was born October 8, 1955 to Robert and Delores Vaara of Ironwood. Cathie attended area grade schools and Ironwood High School. She continued her education at Gogebic Community College in their first Cosmetology Class. She also took a course in Medical Records, which is where she chose to focus her career. She worked in that field of Medicine for many years until she became ill. Cathie loved music and reading. She is survived by her mother, Delores Vaara of Ironwood; her brothers, Guy (Michelle) Vaara of Hurley, David (Renee) Vaara of Medford, WI, and Paul (Erin) Vaara of Minong, WI; nieces and nephews, Brooke, Brad, Annika, and Zoey; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends. Cathie was preceded in death by her father, Robert. A private memorial service will be held.
