Catherine Susan Baross, 61, of National City, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, in San Diego.      She was born Dec. 2, 1948, in Lansing, Mich., and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich. in 1967. She was on active duty in the Navy from Jan. 10, 1969 until Jan. 29, 1976. She had been stationed at  Moffett Field, Calif., Orlando, Fla., and North Island, Calif. As a civilian she worked for the Navy Public Works Center Materials Department in San Diego. She retired after 34 years of service to the Navy.      Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Christine) Thomson, Mrs. Ronald (Cherine) Gagnow, and Mrs. Dan (Cynthia) Bardon; her step-mother, Mrs. Rudolph (Edna) Baross; four step-sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Carlotta) Hinc, Mrs. Dan (Kay) Snider, Mrs. Phillip (Barbara) Burmeister, and Mrs. Michael (Edie) Truesdale; and three step-brothers, Raymond, Dale, and Patrick Kain.      She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph Junior Baross and Marion (Cichon) Breitenfeld; and one brother, Rudolph J. Baross.      A memorial service was held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, Calif. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, on July 12, at 10 a.m.      Local arrangements are with McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
