Carol Jean Zimmerman, 92, died peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Villa Maria Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, just 2 days before her 93rd birthday.

Carol was born on September 28, 1933, in Minocqua, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marie (Tatroe) Slivinski. She attended Mercer School and worked various jobs until retiring at 79. Carol’s whole life was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed taking walks and crossword puzzles. On February 14, 1953, Carol was united in marriage with Eugene Zimmerman in Mercer. Carol and Eugene's door was always open to friends in need of a place to go for a friendly meal or a place to stay.

Carol is survived by her sons, Neil (Maggie), Rodney, and Bruce; daughter, Lynn (Dave), all of Mercer; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) of Hurley, and Eugene (Amie) of Mercer; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, in 2002, and her brother, Jerry Slivinski.

Following Carol’s wishes, no formal services will take place. A private family burial has taken place at the Mercer Cemetery.
