Obituary

Bryn Elizabeth Pieschel Cooper, 29, of Denver, Colo. and formerly of Ironwood, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, following an 8-month battle with leukemia. She was born Dec.13, 1979, in Moorhead, Minn., the daughter of Tom and Linda (Schock) Pieschel, and was a 1998 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. She attended Gogebic Community College where she played basketball for two years and was an Academic All-American, graduating with honors with an Associate of Science degree in 2000. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of North Dakota in 2002, and was a 2006 graduate of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Bryn was employed as an Oncology Pharmacist at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. Her favorite outdoor activities included running, snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding and hiking. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and also loved to travel, cook, read, watch movies, go to the gym, and eat at her favorite restaurants. She loved coming home to Ironwood. Lake Superior and Copper Peak were two of her favorite places. Bryn loved life and touched the lives and hearts of many people. She had a beautiful spirit and will be remembered for her bright smile, her compassion and her caring. She will never be forgotten. She was married to Scott Cooper on Sept. 29, 2007, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, by the Rev. Darryl Pepin. Scott survives. Also surviving are her parents, Tom and Linda Pieschel, Ironwood; grandparents, Milden and Loretta Schock, Blue Earth, Minn.; brothers, Michael Pieschel, Chaska, Minn., Andrew Pieschel, Grand Forks, No. Dak., and Mark Pieschel, Ironwood; in-laws, Teresa and Scott McGregor, Columbus, Miss., and Tony and Sheila Cooper, Liberty, Ala.; grandmother, Laurine Driver, Reform, Ala.; brothers-and-sisters-in-law, Luke and Jenifer Cooper, Columbus, Bridget and Shawn Shaw and Sarah and Matt Eaves, all of Columbus, and Meghan Cooper, Liberty; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and her pets, Fred, Daisy and Chester. A memorial service was held in Bryn's name by her fellow co-workers at the University of Colorado Hospital. A gathering of her friends, family, and co-workers was held at the Wynkoop Restaurant in Denver. Local visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31, beginning at 9 a.m., in the St. Joseph Family Room at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by the Rev. Darryl Pepin, at 11a.m. . A luncheon reception will be held in the parish hall immediately following the service.
