Betty Ann Stano, 76, of
Ironwood, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Iron County Medical Care
Facility in Crystal Falls. The former Betty Ann Yashus was born Aug. 23,
1935, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Cvengros) Yashus, and
graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 1953. She married Greg Stano in May, 1955, at Holy
Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood. He preceded her in death in
1989. Betty was employed briefly at the J.C. Penney
Co. and MFC-First National Bank in Ironwood. She was an excellent cook and
baker, and loved to shop. She especially enjoyed helping others. She was a
member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and the former Holy Trinity
Catholic Church in Ironwood, and also belonged to the Catholic
Sokol. Surviving are three sons, Greg (Debbie), Green
Bay, Wis., Gary (Sheri), Ironwood, and Paul ( Mary Clare), Farmington Hills;
three grandchildren, Alicia Stano, Temple, Texas, Aron Stano, Ft. Lauderdale,
Fla., and Miranda Solky Stano, Farmington Hills; a sister, Marian Gillison,
Benson, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-and-sisters-in-law,
Albert (Jean) Burzinski, Agnes Armata, and Christine Pribyl, all of
Ironwood. Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Solky Stano, in 2005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Friday, Aug. 3, at noon, preceded by visitation at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM,
celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in
Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Lunch will be served in the parish hall
immediately upon return from the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg, Gary, Paul and Aron
Stano, Michael Armata, and Leonard Zaleski Jr. Betty's obituary may be viewed online and
