Barbara J. Ritmanich, 82, of Ironwood, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in Wakefield. The former Barbara J. Geuder was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Negaunee, daughter of the late Carl and Ina (Lahti) Geuder, and came to Ironwood as a child, where she attended local schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1943. She then worked at resorts in Minocqua, Wis. for two years. She married Emmett Ritmanich in Feb. 1945, in Ironwood. He preceded her in death. Barbara resided in Ironwood until ill health forced her to move to Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield in May 2004. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and baking, and was very active in activities at the nursing home. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ironwood. Surviving are two daughters, Susan Flory, Sedona, AZ, and Gretchen (Robert) Hockin, Prescott Valley, AZ; a granddaughter, Nadine Vida, Phoenix, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Lagiaia and Grey, Phoenix; a sister, Roberta Geuder, Troy, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Robert Geuder. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held.
