Anne M. Forslund, 91, of Hurley, passed
away peacefully at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley on Monday, December 23,
2013.
Anne was born in Ironwood, Mich. on June
21, 1922, and graduated from Ironwood High School.
She was married to Harold "Ozzie" Forslund
on June 1, 1946. Ozzie preceded her in death on Jan. 24,
2002.
Anne was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic
Church, Ironwood, and St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hurley.
Anne and Ozzie operated Ozzie's Bar in
Hurley for 41 years. Ozzie's was well known as the Packer 's Headquarters of the
North due to Ozzie's devotion to the Green Bay Packers. Over the years, many
Packer players and coaches stopped in when they were in the northwoods to enjoy
some hunting and/or skiing.
Besides her husband, Anne was preceded in
death by her parents, Albert Sr. and Elizabeth Novak; siblings Albert Jr, Frank,
Marge, and John Novak, Betty Larson, Julia Paulsen and Mary Oie; several
half-brothers and sisters; a nephew, John Oie; and grandniece, Kirsten "Sissy"
Oie.
She is survived by a son, Doug Forslund,
Manitowish Waters; a daughter, Patty Maki, Woodruff; grandchildren, Mike (Sarah)
Forslund , Middleton, Jason (Becky) Maki, Saxon, and Lisa Maki Krusick,
Woodruff; and great grandchildren, Andrew and Sammy Forslund, Caitlin and
Mitchell Maki and Dane Krusick.
Anne is also survived by a
half-sister-in-law, Barb Novak, Presque Isle; nephews and nieces, Mary Beth, Bob
(Barb), and Jim (Patty) Oie and Julie (Jim) Krznarich, all of Ironwood, Roland
Paulsen, Wisconsin Rapids, Marcia (Gene) Jacobson, Wausau, Rita (Dennis)
Kananen, Brighton Mich., Jay (Chrissy) Novak, Union, Ky, and John/Ed (Susan)
Novak, Rutland, Mass.; and several grand and great-grandnephews and
nieces.
Out of respect
for Anne's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m., preceded by
visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev.
Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.
A luncheon
reception will follow at the Bell Chalet in Hurley.
Rite of
Committal and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, in the
spring.
