Anna Mae Dennis, 81, a lifelong
resident of Saxon, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, in her home. The former Anna Mae Hegbloom was born Sept.
17, 1928, in Saxon, daughter of the late Vanner and Eva (Myers) Hegbloom,
attended grade school there, and graduated from Saxon High School in
1946. She married Dale R. Dennis on June 14, 1947,
at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Saxon. He preceded her in death on Oct. 31,
2003. Dale and Anna Mae operated the DANA Dairy Farm
in Saxon until 1986, then raised beef cattle before retiring in 1993. She was
also employed as a housekeeper and cook at Page's Cabins in Saxon, and worked at
Flink's Berry Farm. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church
in Saxon, where she served on the Parish Council and held a position on the
finance council for many years. She also taught catechism and served on the
Parish Evangelization Team. She belonged to the St. Ann's Service Club, holding
many positions as officer over the years, and was involved in Deanery work in
the Diocese. Anna Mae was a 4-H leader, served on the Saxon
School Board, and worked in the produce building at the Iron Co. Fair for many
years. She enjoyed playing cribbage, pinochle and smear, sewing and tending to her large
garden, and loved watching the Food Network and game shows. She especially
enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
and always had her heart open to everyone. She will be dearly
missed. Surviving are a son, Wayne (Donna), Oak
Forest, Ill.; three daughters, Bonnie (Tom Triatik) Dennis, Sobieski, Ilene
Giacomino, Saxon, and Debbie (Herman) Tschudy, Prairie du Sac; five
grandchildren, Jason Dennis, Chicago, Adam Dennis, Portland, Ore., Rene (Todd)
Smits, Kaukauna, Jill (Chad) Raisleger, Stevens Point, and Angela (Jerry) Gallo,
Ironwood, Mich.; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and six
step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gene (Donna) Hegbloom, Ironwood, Jim
Hegbloom (Elaine), Saxon, and Vanner (Melba) Hegbloom, Globe, Az.;
sisters-in-law, Grace Dennis, Waukesha, and Adelia Neigum, Isle, Minn.; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Anna Mae was
preceded in death by a son-in-law, Peter Giacomino; a grandson, Dominic
Giacomino; and two sisters, Viola Swartz and Cecelia "Punky"
Sherrell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Friday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Saxon, with the Rev.
Kevin Gordon, celebrant. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in
Lakeview Cemetery, Saxon. Luncheon will be served at the Saxon Community
Center immediately upon return from the cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church
from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Jason and Adam Dennis,
Tristan Schwark, Todd Smits, Chad Raisleger, Tom Triatik, Jerry Gallo and Herman
Tschudy. Memorial contributions may be made to Regional
