Obituary

Ann S. Miller, 95, of Ashland, and a former longtime Pence, Wis. resident, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. The former Ann Kaseno was born July 7, 1911, in Mellen, daughter of the late George and Anna (Turney) Kaseno, attended the Mellen Grade School, and helped her mother raise her siblings. On May 17, 1930, she married Joseph M. Miller at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mellen. They made their home in Pence where Ann resided most of her life. Joseph preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1987. Ann was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley and the former Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Pence and its' Altar Society. She loved to cook and dance, especially polkas, and enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting and gardening. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family and her daily walks to visit her sisters. Surviving are a son, George (Sue), Ashland; four daughters, Anna Mae (Gene) Sbraggia, Montreal, Wis., Mary Catherine (Fred) Ebli, Ocala, Fla., Pat Klobucher, Ashland, and Charlene (Tom) Lajcak, Moquah, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Miller, Marie Calligaro, and Verona (Earl) Swetkovich, all of Pence, and Alice (Lawrence) Tafelski, Mellen; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by a son, William, Oct. 5, 1980; a grandson; daughters-in-law, Virginia Pertile Miller and Sylvia Ranta Miller; son-in-law, Tom Klobucher; brothers, John and Michael Kaseno; and sisters, Mary Keseno, Pauline Reinerio, Rose Naibauer, and a sister in infancy. In accordance with Ann's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, presider. Rite of Committal will be held at the church, with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley. Relatives and friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter, Dan, and Patrick Miller, Mark Sbraggia, Fred J.
