Angeline "Angie" Nelson,
86, a longtime resident of Jessieville, died peacefully Friday, November 13, 2009. She was born on May 15, 1923 in Sicily, daughter of the late
Carmello and Carmella Calabro. She attended Washington School in Bessemer and then graduated from
Ironwood Area Schools in 1970. She married Philip "Bud"
Nelson of Ironwood, MI on October 18, 1941. He preceded her in death
on September 19, 1986. Angie and Bud owned and
operated The Seasons Bar in Jessieville for many years. She also had a number
of jobs while raising seven children. She will always be remembered for her
exceptional Italian cooking, tell-it-like-it-is attitude and great sense of
humor. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband Philip Nelson, her brother Marcel
Calabro and sister Clara Benny; brother-in-laws Raymond Nelson, James "Norman"
Nelson, Paul Nelson; and sister-in-law Lenore Bosley. She is survived by five
daughters – Donna (Glenn) Korpi, Lake Gogebic and Poinciana, Florida, Linda
(Dennis) Dufrane, Paula (Robert) Rigoni, Lenore (Keith) Jackson, all of
Ironwood, Karen (Dennis) Johnson, Ashland; two sons Glenn "Poco" (Diana)
Nelson, Napolean, Ohio and Mark (Dorothy) Nelson, Bailey, Colorado; fourteen
grandchildren, Carole (Ed) Tuckey, Norman Korpi, Gail (Eric) Raderer, Aaron
(Stephanie) Dufrane, Lisa (Joshua) Morris, Robert (Anita) Rigoni, Angela (Dan)
Martinson, Dayle (Leif Tweiten) Jackson, Keegan Jackson, Philip (Katie)
Nelson, Catherine Nelson, Marcus (Jackie) Nelson, Tina (Dennis) Bunch, Forrest
(Melinda) Nelson; and eleven great-grandchildren, Eric Kane, Owen Tuckey,
Andrew and Patrick Raderer, Angelique Dufrane, Sophia Rigoni, Emily
Martinson, Collyn and Angelina Nelson, and Hailey and Joey Bunch; and a brother, Joseph (Mayme) Calabro, Wakefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated Wednesday, November 18, at noon, at Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev.Darryl Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Committal and
interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Luncheon will be served in
the church basement immediately upon return from the cemetery. Angie's family will receive
relatives and friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the church on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Ed
Tuckey, Eric Kane, Eric Raderer, Norman Korpi, Philip Nelson, Robert Rigoni,
