Alice "Bebs" Ceccon, 73, of 203 Geneva St., Ironwood, died unexpectedly Monday evening, Sept. 8, 2008, in her home. The former Alice Conhartoski was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Gile, Wis., daughter of the late John and Josephine (Skendriel) Conhartoski, attended St. Mary's Grade School in Hurley, and graduated form Hurley High School in 1952. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. in Ironwood, was employed in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Hurley, worked for a time at Ironwood Cleaners, and was employed as a sales clerk at Pamida in downtown Ironwood for several years until her retirement when the store closed. Bebs was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood and the Piave Society Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, cooking and gardening, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. On Jan. 14, 1956, she was married to Eugene Ceccon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley by the late Msgr. Michael Prock. Eugene survives. Also surviving are four children, Cindy Dahl, Holland, Mich., Jeanne Peterson, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Shari Ceccon, Cloquet, Minn., and Robert (Denise) Ceccon, Eau Claire, Mich.; five grandchildren, Tanya Munguia, Grandville, Shaun (Melanie) Peterson and Erin Dahl, both of Holland, Ashley Dahl, St. Louis, Mo., and R.J. Ceccon, Grand Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Casey, Ethan and Kameron; two brothers, John (Betty) Conhartoski and Paul (Julie) Conhartoski, both of Milwaukee; five sisters, Helen Masty, Lake Station, Ind., Evelyn Caruso, Racine, Wis., Stella "Cookie" (John) Kolodziejczyk, Erwin Township, Dora (Robert) Ruby, Hazel Green, Ala., and Marie Vargovich, Holt; brother-and-sisters-in-law, Jim and June Ceccon, Ironwood and Molly Ceccon, Ironwood Township; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Dahl, in 2007; two brothers, Andrew and Stanley Conhartoski; and a sister, Josephine Lampart. In accordance with Bebs's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, celebrant. Rite of Commital will take place in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church with luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood. Relatives and friends may call in the St. Joseph Family Room at the church from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday.
