William Joseph Mazurek, Jr., 67, affectionately known as "Dollar Bill," passed away on September 20th, peacefully in his home in Hurley, Wisconsin. He was born on October 27th, 1955, in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Dollar Bill was a remarkable individual whose vibrant life touched the hearts of many. He earned his nickname during his time working at the bank, and it stuck with him throughout his life. Dollar Bill was not just a name; it was a testament to his charismatic and generous nature.
In his youth, Bill was a shining star in the world of athletics. He was a stellar athlete and a regular feature in the Ironwood Red Devils' spotlight, whether it was for football, basketball, track, tennis or baseball. No matter the sport, the number on his back was always ten, a symbol of his unwavering dedication and skill.
Beyond high school, Bill continued to excel in various sports, including tennis, bowling, softball, pool, and golf. He shared his passion for sports through coaching, leaving a lasting impact on young athletes. Later in life, you would often find him enjoying his beloved game of golf at the Gogebic Country Club.
Music was another passion that ran deep in Dollar Bill's soul. He sang in various choirs during his school years and had an ever-present soundtrack to his life. He cherished scenic drives with the radio playing, attended countless music concerts, including Rush at the Decc in 1976, where the music left his ears ringing.
Family was incredibly important to Bill. He enjoyed living in Indiana with his daughter, Alyssa, and relished the time he spent playing with his two beloved grandchildren. Family get-togethers with his siblings were a cherished tradition, and his pride in his son, Alex, who became a golf professional in Florida, was infinite.

Funeral service will be held on October 3rd, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace in Ironwood, MI. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation at 10:00 AM. Following the service, a celebration of life will take place at the Ironwood American Legion. A burial service is scheduled for October 4th, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Riverside Cemetery.

Preceded in death by father William J Mazurek Sr, mother Katherine M Mazurek, and infant sister Mary Margaret Mazurek.
