Obituary for Wallace M. Dennis

Wallace M. Dennis, 61,
of Sands Rd, Saxon, died Friday, November 26, 2010 in Ashland.     Wally was born May 15, 1949, in Ashland, the son of the late Willard and
Patricia (Van Ouwerkerk) Dennis.     After graduating from St. Ambrose High School
in Ironwood in1967, he went to broadcasting school in Milwaukee. Wally then joined the
Navy and was honorably discharged after four
years of service.  He moved to New Orleans to become a police officer and after
30 years of service, retired and moved back to Saxon.     Wally was a member of the Saxon American Legion Mercier-Kero Post 371 and the Saxon dart and pool leagues.      Wally married the late Rosemarie Welch on
September 10, 1981 in New Orleans.        His hobbies included watching westerns and
wrestling, 4-wheeling, fishing, boating and hunting.       Wally married the late Rosemarie Welch on September 10, 1981,  in New Orleans.  She preceded him in death in 2009.     Surviving are his daughters, Kimberly (Kieron)
Jones and Rene (Michael) Dolhon; grandchildren, TJ and Braedon Jones and Devin
Dolhon; and brothers and sisters, Cathleen (Robert) Kuehl, Edward (Margie), Gene
(Elaine), Joseph (Barbara), Dolores (Peter) Strand, Daniel (Nancy), Annette
(Richard) Brown, LeeAnne (Gordon) Rundquist, John (Diane), Irene (Norman)
Buntrock, Lori Dennis (Bill Byers), Donna (Steve) Galush and Alan.     Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Jennifer in 1979 and a brother, David, in 2009.     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 30th, at 11 a.m. at St.
Ann's Catholic Church in Saxon, with Father Paul Pare, O.S.M., celebrant.      Rite of Committal will take place at the church where full military honors will be accorded by the Mercier-Kero American Legion Post 371 Honor Guard.     Cremation will follow.     Visitation will be Tuesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.     Wally will be buried with his wife and daughter
in Restlawn Cemetery, in Avondale, Louisiana at a later date.     Pallbearers will be Joseph, Edward, Gene, John
