Obituary for Timothy Patrick Mackin

Timothy Patrick Mackin passed away at home in Ironwood, Michigan October 16, 2022.

Tim was born December 21, 1959 in North Carolina to Patrick and Marilyn Mackin spending his first years of life at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, the family then returning home to Green Bay. Tim attended Premontre High School then headed west for several years before enlisting and serving at Scott Air Force base as a firefighter. While studying at Marquette University, he met and married Cynthia Lopez Shannon, and had two children, son Colin and daughter Kiera. He moved to northern Wisconsin, Wakefield then Ironwood, Michigan where he found a spiritual home at St. Simon Orthodox Church serving as a reader and leading some weekday services. Suffering from ill health in the last few years he chose to live a more private life. Our hearts are broken and we miss you so much.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Mackin, his stepfather Jerry Fischer, sister Melissa Griego, niece Maya Mackin, his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Tim is survived by his daughter Kiera, son Colin and grandson Evan; mother Marilyn Fischer; brother Sean (Bonnie) Mackin and sister Maggie (Ken Card) Mackin; stepsisters and stepbrother: Mary (Mike) Carini, Sally (Steve) Karls, Tim (Brenda Dorn) Fischer; Aunt Colleen (John) Hagen; Aunt Liz Whalen; nieces Morgan and Molly, and former wife Margery Summerfield.

Tim was deeply thoughtful, intelligent, loved his religious books, prayer and sacred icons and was always seeking answers for what troubled his mind and heart. Greatly loved by his family, he has left us too soon, but his soul is now home in the care of God our loving Father with Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit, and with the Holy Mother of God. He would want us all to pray for and with him the words of the Trisagion hymn, a prayer for Divine Mercy from the Divine Liturgy: Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.

Fr. Mark Hagan from St. Simon Orthodox Church will offer the Trisagion prayer service at the McKevitt-
Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood at 11 am on Saturday, October 22 nd preceded by visitation at 10 am.
Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

The family thanks all who loved and cared for Tim and appreciates your condolences, thoughts, and prayers.
