Obituary for Thomas J. Waterman

Thomas J. Waterman, 66, of
Ashland, Wis., and formerly of Ironwood, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at St.
Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.      He was born Jan. 5, 1945, in Marenisco, Mich.,
son of the late Clement Waterman and Annice (Schultz) LaVigne, and attended
school there.      Tom was a big sponsor of Gogebic County
Special Olympics due to his daughter Betty's participation and his own
disability.      Surviving are his daughter, Betty Waterman, of
Ironwood, who was the light of his life; two brothers, Ted Norris Jr., Michigan
City, Ind., and Kevin LaVigne, Ironwood; a half brother, Ralph (Gerry) Waterman,
Appleton, Wis.; a sister, Linda Kniess, Iron River, Mich.; a half sister, Gayle
(Eldon) Mattson, Ironwood Township; special friend, Lori (Ken) Lizak, Ashland;
and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by two half sisters, Sharon Sobolewski and Yvonne Thiede.      As per Tom's wishes, cremation has taken
place.      A memorial gathering will be held at a later
date.      Memorial contributions may be made to Special
Olympics of Gogebic County, 1011 Peters St., Wakefield, Mich.
