Obituary for Thomas "Tommy" Siewert

Thomas "Tommy" Lester Siewert, age 82 of Mercer, WI, formerly Menomonee Falls, WI, went to the hunting ground in the sky on June 27, 2023, in his beloved Northwoods with his family by his side.

Tom was born on December 5, 1940, in Gleason, WI, and graduated from Custer High School in Milwaukee.

Tom proudly served his Country in the United States Army stationed in Korea and Laos. He served in the Gorilla Band Carol Company A, 5th Special Forces Group (ABN) 1st Special Forces. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His family is exceedingly grateful for his service to our Country.

His love for hunting and archery became a lifelong career. He worked at Mac's Archery, starting in the basement shop in Milwaukee and later opening the Saukville location. From there, he managed Fall's Archery in Menomonee Falls, helping other hunters to create the perfect setup for their hunting dreams.

He enjoyed hunting trips to Nebraska, Tennessee, Canada, and his beloved home in the Northwoods. He spent a significant amount of time in the woods during his lifetime; during his decline in health, he said that he missed the most "walking the woods." His knowledge of the land and lakes of the Northwoods is a significant loss to many. One of his proudest moments was taking his grandson Oliver bear hunting, and with the help of many friends, they were able to have a successful hunt.

Tom was also an avid fisherman, he enjoyed fishing as a younger boy with his father and brother, and that carried through his life. He cherished teaching his grandchildren how to fish up at "the cottage." Tom was a friend to many; he had a witty sense of humor and a willingness to help people.

He was a cherished father to Brett Siewert and Julie Baker (Siewert), a loving Pappa to Brittney, Oliver, Amara, and Kaitlyn, and a great grandfather to Landon, Sophie, Miles, and Jaeden.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ervin and Esther (Klingfus) Siewert, and brother Ronald (Belva) Siewert.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 29, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Mercer Community Center -2657 W. Railroad St. Mercer, WI.
