Thomas J. Cvengros, 80, of Hurley, passed away on May 19, 2020 at his home in Hurley, Wisconsin.

He was born December 22, 1939, in Ironwood, Michigan, the son of Michael and Lucille (Gravitz) Cvengros. He attended local schools and attended Northland College in Ashland where he received a Bachelor’s Degree and then furthered his education and received a CPA degree. He was an Army veteran and served for 3 ½ years.

Thomas was raised Catholic and attended Our Lady Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. He was also a member of the Jaycee’s and served on many community projects.

He was Dean of Business at Gogebic Community College and acting President for 1 year, retiring in 2004 after 33 years of service.

Thomas loved reading, playing cards with “the gang”, and particularly loved the outdoors enjoying camping, fishing, and hunting; but he especially loved his Langford Lake property. He was a very humble man, and everyone knew his unique sense of humor and witty sarcasm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Lucille Cvengros; brothers, Joseph and James Cvengros; sisters, Rita Grasso and Patricia Nichols; nephews, David and Glenn Grasso and Michael Cvengros; brothers-in-law, James "Squeak" Nichols and Joseph Grasso; sister-in-law, LaVerne Cvengros; and inlaws, Nelson and Marjorie Cobleigh.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife, Jayne; son, Stephen (Lali) of the Netherlands; deeply adored daughter, Jennifer Cvengros (Keith Towne); grandchildren, Paris and Sylvie; nieces and nephews, Diana Zarzyski, Cathy (Warren) Geyer, Sue (Steve) Pallin, Heather Christianson, Michelle (Michael) Johnson, Jane Horgan, Joe (Jennifer) Cobleigh, Dan (Connie) Cvengros and Chad (Tabitha) Andrist; sister-in-law, Kathleen (Damian) Dominski; brother-in-law, Robert (Bernadette) Cobleigh; numerous other loving relatives and friends; and his devoted sidekick, his cat, Clyde.
