Sylvia M. Layman, 87, of Mercer, passed away on Sunday, October 6. 2019 in Mercer, Wisconsin.      She was born on July 31, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Sylvester and Harriett Warzynski.      Sylvia worked as a machine operator for Briggs & Stratton,      She was married to Frederick D. “Fritz” Layman on July 29, 1950, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer.  They then moved to Milwaukee and returned to Mercer in 1988. She and Frederick especially enjoyed spending winters in Florida.      Sylvia was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer.      Surviving are a daughter, Tamara “Tami” (Russell) Bukovic, Mercer; grandchildren,  Nicole  Castillo, Manitowish Waters, and Chrissy ( Josh) Fiorini, Fruitland Park, Florida, great-grandchild, Cadence;  sister-in-law, Ardith Nass, Windom, Minn.; and numerous nephews.    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick, on December 20, 2013; and a daughter, Roxanne Layman on October 6, 2013      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer at 11 am with Fr. Joseph Mary Kodiganti as celebrant, preceded by a visitation from 10 am until the time of the Mass.      Interment will be in the Mercer Cemetery.      McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, Ironwood, is assisting the family.
