Obituary for Sueko Romans

Sueko Romans of Ironwood, passed away on November 23, 2018.      Sueko was born on January 25, 1932 to Tetsuzo and Shizue (Morita) Ishimatsu in Kurume, Japan.     She was employed as a phone operator on the Itazuke military base in Japan, where she met her future husband Chester “Chet” Romans. On May 13, 1964 she married Chet in Japan, and after that, they returned to the United States    . She was employed at Westgate Nursing Center for more than 15 years as first as a CNA and as part of the kitchen staff. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood where she served in the Altar Guild and the Ladies Guild. Family came first with Sue. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and it was hard to leave her home hungry. She also loved sewing and working outside in her garden. She enjoyed traveling with Chet and also loved watching the Vikings play football.      She will be sadly missed by two sons, Arthur (Tiffany) Romans of Ironwood and James Romans of Ironwood; grandchildren, Kristina, Justin, Jaymes, PJ and Jonathon, numerous family members in Japan as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.      She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chet, and one son Ervin.      There will be a Memorial Service for Sue on Thursday November 29, 2018 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church of Ironwood. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday from 10:00am to 11:00am.      Burial will be in the spring at Sunset Acres Cemetery.      For more information and to express condolences, please visit www.mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.      The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of Westgate Nursing and Rehab Center.      In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established with donations being forwarded to Westgate Nursing Center.
