Obituary for Stephen F. "Steffy" Koszloski

Stephen F. "Steffy"
Koszloski, 94, of DePere, Wis. and a former longtime Jessieville, Ironwood,
Mich. resident, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Bellin Memorial Hospital in
Green Bay.
     He was born Sept. 3, 1915, in Wilkes Barre,
Penn., son of the late Stanley and Josephine (Wawver) Koszloski, and came to
Ironwood in infancy. He attended Ironwood public schools and graduated from
Luther L. Wright High School in 1933. He then worked at the A&P Store in
Ironwood and in area Civilian Conservation Corps camps prior to serving his
country in the U.S. Army Infantry and Air Corps in Europe during World War
II.      Following his honorable discharge, Steffy
returned to Ironwood where he was employed at the Cohodas-Paoli Co. for 35
years, retiring in 1980.      He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic
Church in Ironwood and sang in the men's choir for many years. He was also a
member of Ironwood American Legion Post 5, Knights of Columbus Council 1396,
Eagle Bluff Golf Club in Hurley, the Jessieville Sports Club, and the Aurora
Athletic Club, where he served on the board of directors. He pitched horseshoes
for the Aurora Club in the Range Horseshoe League for many years, served as
secretary for various bowling leagues at the Sport Bowl in Ironwood, and played
hardball and softball in range area leagues in his earlier years.      Steffy was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, and will be dearly missed by all who
had the privilege of knowing him.      On June 8, 1946, he was married to the former
Margaret A. Munari at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Ironwood by the late Msgr.
J.B. Moriarity. Margaret survives.      Also surviving are a daughter, Susan (Patrick)
Sands, DePere; three grandchildren, Steven (Dena) Sands, DePere, Jennifer (Eric)
Delaruelle, Bonduel, and Christopher (Pamela) Sands, Kaukauna; three
great-grandchildren, Carter, Reid, and Caiden; a brother, Frank (Shirley)
Delimba, Ironwood; a sister, Helen Soltis, Chicago; a sister-and-brother-in-law,
Dolores and George Phillips, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and
nephews.      Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by a brother, John Koszloski; and a sister, Stella Marconeri.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, March 31, at noon, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood,
with the Rev. Darryl Pepin, celebrant.      Rite of Committal will take place in the St.
Joseph Family Room at the church, where full military honors will be accorded by
the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard.      Luncheon will follow in the parish
hall.      Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery,
Ironwood.      Relatives and friends may call in the St.
Joseph Family Room at the church from 11 a.m. until noon on
Wednesday.      Pallbearers will be Patrick, Steven and
