Obituary for Stanley Martin

Stanley "Dee" Martin, 95, returned home to all his loved ones that passed on before him. Stanley was born on February 23, 1921, to Bessie and John Martin in Ironwood, Mich. He died July 15, 2016, surrounded by those who loved him at his home on Pine Lake in Oma, Wi. While serving in the Army''s 29th Infantry Division during WWII, Stan marched and ran from Omaha Beach to Berlin and then to Holland to combat the German Regime for the freedom for all in Europe and the United States - A tour that lasted 13 months. His brother, Jack Martin, was injured in that combat. Stanley married Patricia Hawley on August 29, 1942. Stanley loved polka dancing and listening to polka music. He also absolutely loved life, spending much of his time conversing with friends and family at the Pine Lake Lodge and at other locales, aiding in the creation of solutions to numerous world issues. His vacant seat will now remain for him. Loved ones that preceded him in death were his loving wife, Patricia; son, Darrell Martin; his beloved granddaughter, Brooke Martin; brothers, Harold Trethewey and John "Jack" Martin; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Martin. Surviving is his daughter-in-law, Margo Martin; his sons (whom he loved with all his heart) - Randy Martin of Normal, Ill., John (Linda) Martin of Gidson City, Ill., Scott (Peggy) Martin of Wheeling, Ill., Dale (Susan) Martin of Nebraska; his grandchildren, Andrew and Stephanie Martin of Chicago, Ill.; his loving partner of 25 years, Sherylee Dougherty, and her son, Tad Dougherty. Inurnment will be in the Hurley Cemetery. A celebration of Stanley''s life will be held at the Pine Lake Lodge in Oma on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 1 until 4 p.m. - Auf Wiedersehen Dear Stanley
