Robert Hubert “Bob” Wanden, aged to perfection at 92, of Ironwood, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Facility in Ironwood.

Robert was born, September 30, 1928, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, son of John and Beatrice (Hudson) Wanden. Robert proudly served in the United States Navy from January 25, 1946. until honorably discharged on July 1, 1949.

On August 29, 1953, he married Thora Hosken.

Robert worked for the US Dept. of Agriculture, serving the U.S. Forest Service in the Ottawa National Forest, Eastern Division as a Civil Engineering Tech for 29 years, retiring on Sept. 30, 1988.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beatrice Wanden; wife, Thora on Feb. 25, 2010, after 56 years of marriage; son, Theodore “Ted” Wanden on Sept. 30, 1993 sisters, Katherine May Calbat and Gertrude Wells; brother, John Wanden, and sisters-in-law, Deloris Wanden, Jane Wanden, and Katherine Wanden.

Robert’s legacy will live on with his daughters, Gail Lyn (Charles) Guerber of Ironwood and Roberta Malinowski of Wisconsin; grandchildren, David Wayne (Kristen) Binz of Elgin, Illinois; Nathan (Maggie) Binz of Harvard, Illinois; Trista (Paul) Bialorucki of Palatine, Illinois; Caleb (Nora) Binz of Algonquin, Illinois, Dustin (Caitlyn) Binz of Marengo, Illinois; Michaela Ellen Ann Binz of Harvard, Illinois; Lonnie Westeen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Stephanie, Justin and Kesha Wanden; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, Ashton, Ellie, Elijah, Hayden, Macy, Emilynne, Grayson, Sebastion, Aubrey, Gianna, Matilda, Tristin, Tahner, Sophia, Isaiah, and Haley; and brothers: Tom (Sally) Wanden of Ironwood; Larry Wanden of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; and Bill Wanden of Puyallup, Washington.

Special Blessings to the caregivers and fellow residents of his Westgate family for providing Dad with an abundance of love and respect he so richly deserved.

A bible reading, I shared with Dad is from portions of Isaiah 55:

“Seek the Lord while he may be found, call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and our God, for he will freely pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from the heavens, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out on joy and be led forth in peace, the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all of the trees of the field will clap their hands.”

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to 332 South Marquette St, Ironwood, MI 49938.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Robert’s legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at
