Obituary for Robert Kuchenbecker

Robert Kuchenbecker, 80, of Mercer, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec.
12, 2010, in Mercer.      He was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Chicago, Ill.,
attended school in the neighborhood of Hegwisch, and graduated from Thorton High
School in Cal City, Ill. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1950, proudly serving
his country as a medic in Iceland during the Korean War, and was honorably
discharged as a sergeant in 1954.      Following his discharge,  Bob returned to
Hegwisch and worked for his father at Columbia Pipe for a short time. He
then was employed as a salesman for Fromm Laboratory distributing animal health
products for 40 years, retiring in 1993 and moving to Mercer.      He enjoyed playing golf and fishing, and was a
member of Fred Swietzer American Legion Post 270 in Hegwisch.      Bob was a wonderful person who will be dearly
missed by all who knew him.      Surviving are his longtime companion, Jeane
Dormeyer, of Mercer, and her children and their families; a sister, Cheryl
Kuchenbecker, Hammond, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Nell Kuchenbecker, of
Hegwisch.      Preceding him in death were his parents, Steve
and Marie Kuchenbecker, and a brother, Paul Kuchenbecker.      Out of respect for Bob's wishes, cremation has
taken place.      Visitation will be from 10 to11 a.m. on
Saturday, Dec. 18, at  St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Mercer, where a
memorial service will be held at 11a.m., with Deacon Norbert Brossmer
presiding.      Rite of Committal will take place at the
