Obituary for Robert G. Hockenbrock

Robert G.
Hockenbrock, 66, of 208 Poplar St., Hurley, died peacefully Thursday, June 30,
2011, in his home, surrounded by his family and under the care of Regional
Hospice, following a lengthy, courageous battle with lung
cancer.      He was born June 22, 1945,
in Ironwood, Mich., son of the late Philip and Ellen (Hanson) Hockenbrock,
attended Southside School in Hurley, and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School
in 1963. He then served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam
War.      Following his honorable
discharge, Bob returned to the area and was employed at Simpson Electric
Co. and Tri-State Homes in Mercer, and Jewel Tea Co.and White Pine Copper
Co., retiring from Frazier Paper Co. in Park Falls. In his retirement, he worked
part-time at the Ironwood Daily Globe.      Bob was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hurley
and Park Falls Amercian Legion Post 182. He loved the outdoors, fishing and
hunting, and enjoyed collecting antiques.      He married the former
Ginger LeGassa on Jan. 22, 1968, in Bessemer, Mich. She
survives.      Also surviving are a son,
Robert, of Hurley; two sisters, Louise ( Elwyn "Butch") Runstrom, Gwinn, Mich.,
and Irene (Charles "Chuck") Jamieson, Prescott Valley, Ariz.;
sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Shirley Hockenbrock, Hurley, George and Darlene
LeGassa, Harvey, Mich., Michael LeGassa, Marquette, Mich.,Thomas and Brenda
LeGassa, Minneapolis, Minn., Donna Colberg, Ramsay, Mich., Mary and Duane Koski,
Bessemer, and Shan and Doug Aho, Ishpeming, Mich.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.      Besides his parents, he
was preceded in death by a son, John, on Oct.28, 1993; and his brother
David, on Feb. 11, 2010.      In accordance with Bob's
wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be
held.      Private committal
and inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Upson.      Condolences may be given
