Obituary for Reino W Suliin

Reino W. Suliin, 74, of Ironwood, MI, died Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Ironwood. He was born January 18, 1942 in Ironwood, the son of the late Walter and Hulda (Maki) Suliin. Reinograduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 30, 1962. He served during the Vietnam War in Okinawa and was honorably discharged on March 19, 1965. Following his discharge, he resided in Erwin Township where he owned and operated the Suliin Greenhouse. He had also been employed as a heavy equipment operator working on road construction throughout the Upper Peninsula. He also worked for Lindburg Construction on the Ludington Project and Upper Peninsula Quinnesec Tailing Dams. For many years he worked with his brother-in-law at R.A.N. Logging. On August 28, 1971 he was united in marriage to Darlene Juutilainen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood. She preceded him in death on September 21, 2009. Reino was a life member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping. He is survived by one son, Ronald (Kerri) of Merrill, WI; his daughter, Cheryl (Ronald) Peterson of Saxon; four grandchildren, Zachary and Rylee Suliin, Axel and Logan Peterson; a sister, Ruth Nelson of Ironwood; three sister-in-laws, Jeanne Zanella of Milwaukee, Grace (Bill) McDonald of Bessemer, and Dorothy Juutilainen of L''Anse, MI; two brother-in-laws, Daniel (Darlene) Lane of Hazel Park, MI, and William Marczak of Duluth, MN; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Palojarvi and Shirley Suliin. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016at the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, with Rev. Kurt Kovanan officiating. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Ironwood American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard. Luncheon will follow at Little Finland in Kimball.
