Obituary for Priscilla Marie Estola

Priscilla Marie Estola, 80, Ironwood Township, passed away on December 20, 2018. Priscilla was born on June 24, 1938 to Fred and Inga (Leppanen) Goodney. At a fairly young age, Fred passed away and Inga later married Arnold Haanpaa and he was always “Dad” to Priscilla as well. She attended Roosevelt School in her youth and later in life she proudly graduated from Luther L. Wright Adult Education Program, receiving her degree in 1973. On June 26, 1954 she married Eino E. Estola and they raised a family together. He preceded her in death on September 5, 1987. After Eino passed away she attended and graduated from Gogebic Community College where she received an Associate Degree. Priscilla was a person of strong faith. She had a great love for God, her family and friends. She was an active member and volunteer at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ironwood. From 1963 to 1966, while still married, her and Eino owned and operated the Corner Café in Ironwood Township. For many years she also worked as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She was later employed with Keweenaw Land Association and retired from The Charter Township of Ironwood in 2000. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and attend their school and sporting events. She also loved reading and was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan. In addition to her volunteer work at her church, she also volunteered at Little Finland. She will be sadly missed by: her children, Bartley Estola of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Bradley Estola of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Bonita Estola of Ironwood Township; grandchildren, Evan, Brigette, Zane, and Aiden, one brother, Durwood “Sam” (Gerry) Goodney of Phillips, Wisconsin as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred, and Inga, her step-father Arnold, and her husband Eino. There will be a memorial service for Priscilla on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ironwood, 111 S. Curry Street. There will be a visitation on Thursday at the church from 9:00am to 11:00am. Interment will be at Sunset Acres Cemetery, Ironwood Township in the spring.  McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood is assisting the family.
