Obituary for Pauline Aho

Pauline M. Aho, 88, of Gwinn, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at UP Health System in Marquette, Mich. She was born January 8, 1929 in Bessemer, MI, the daughter of the late James and Theresa (Borgaro) Brack. Pauline attended Iron Belt schools and graduated from Iron Belt High School with the Class of 1945. She met her future husband, Edward Aho, at an end of the war street victory party after WWII. On November 5, 1949 she married Edward at St. Ann Parish in Saxon, WI. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1998. Pauline and Ed made their home in many areas including Fort Mill, SC, Kenosha, WI, Gould City, Mich, Hurley, and most recently Gwinn, Mich. Together they traveled around the country in their RV for many years, visiting relatives and friends. Pauline was a bookkeeper and florist before marrying and in later years had experience as a professional photographer. She volunteered with numerous organizations, including senior centers, churches, and food pantries around the Gwinn area. Pauline also enjoyed tailoring, sewing, crafts, gardening and gourmet cooking. Pauline is survived by her daughter, Barbara Aho of Milwaukee; her son, Kenneth Aho of Curtis, MI; a granddaughter, Loren (Nathan) Rowley of Milwaukee, WI; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor (Brack) Lavin; and her brother, James Brach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood. Fr. Robb Jurkovich will be the celebrant. Pauline''s family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery in Iron Belt, WI.
