Obituary for Patricia A. Albert

PATRICIA A. ALBERT - On Tuesday evening, August 2,2016, Patricia A. Albert, 88, passed away after a long illness.      She was born on July 13,1928, to Blanche (LaBlonde) and Wemer Englund. Much of her youth was spent with her father's family, immigrants from Sweden. As a result she became fluent in the Swedish language. Wemer's sister, Anna, was a school teacher; and she was a big influence on Patricia’s life. Patricia loved learning ,and her obsessions were language and vocabulary.      She had one sister, Jackie( Englund) Lutey. Jackie had three children -- Jay, Kim and Jackie Blanche. Jay and his wife Teresa had two girls (two grandnieces for Patricia) -- Amanda and Sarah. Amanda has one son -- Jace. Jay passed away in 2011.  Kim passed away in 1973 and Jackie Blanche survives. She has one son - Alan Mark Traczyk, Minneapolis.      When Patricia was a teenager, her father was mugged and severely beaten. He suffered a brain hemorrhage and he passed away. Patricia's mother, Blanche, remarried. Her new husband, Patricia's step-father, was James  Lawless. Together, Blanche and James opened a tavern on the corner of Silver Street and US-51 in Hurley, The Congress Bar. When Patricia was old enough, she bartended at the Congress.      In 1947, she manned Kenneth Raymond. She later had two sons with him - Steven and Scott Raymond. Both survive. Steven and his daughter, Hailey ( Patricia's granddaughter), and her son, Hunter (Patricia's great-grandson), live in Marquette; and Scott lives in Chippewa Falls. When the boys were young, Patricia and Kenneth divorced.      ln 1954, Patricia married Dr. James Albert. She had three sons with him – Richard, James Jr., and Joseph Werner. Richard and James Jr. survive. Richard lives in Florida and his daughter, Leah (Patricia's granddaughter), lives in Minneapolis. James Jr. lives in Ironwood and was never married. Dr. James Albert passed away in 2002.      Patricia worked with Dr. Albert in his office. She was an accountant, and she handled insurance claims and billing. She co-founded a furniture store in downtown Ironwood - From House to Home -- and she worked there until her retirement in 2001. Patricia cherished her family. She loved word games and solving puzzles. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling, and she had a passion for fishing. When she was younger she was a dancer, and even considered dancing professionally. She had a flair for decorating and design, and she was an incredible cook . She and Dr. Albert often had huge parties at their summer home -- many times entertaining a hundred guests or more. She had an amazing green thumb and she loved animals. Her dog Tsunami and her cat Fido survive. Both pets are 14 years old, and it is obvious they already miss her greatly.      After Dr. Albert passed away, Patricia bought a house on Douglas Boulevard. She  lived in that house until she fell and broke her hip in April of 2015. From April 2015 until February 2016, she lived at Gogebic Medical Care Facility. The staff treated her very well and were extremely kind and thoughtful. She became a close friend of her roommate -- Helene. In March of this year she moved in with her son, James Jr. Her principle care giver, Lisa Brown, was exceptional; and Patricia greatly appreciated her help and cherished her friendship.      Patricia will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.      Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.      Arrangements were entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
