Obituary for Olive Marie Johnson

Olive Marie Johnson (Marie)
Olive Marie Johnson, 91, a resident of Ironwood and the Westgate Nursing Home, passed away peacefully on 12/9/22. The daughter of the late August and Edith Swanberg was born on August 31, 1931.
She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in 1946 and attended Newport grade school, and graduated from Ironwood Highschool in 1949.
Her yearbook quote “ A pleasant combination of a good student, a good sport, and a good friend.”
She worked at various jobs as a secretary, clerk, and accountant.
On September 10, 1955, she married T/Sergeant Ivar T. Johnson at Salem Lutheran Church. They moved to various military bases and retired to Florida.
In 1984 she returned to Ironwood and, in 1986, attended Gogebic Community College and received a certificate in Business and medical transcription.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, Ivar T. Johnson,
four brothers, Carl, Leonard, Luther, and Oliver, and one sister Gertrude Jobe. Two nieces, Karen (Jerry) Downey & Nancy Swanberg.
Survivors include ten nieces Arlene (Jack) Koivisto, Ruth Jobe, Loretta (Harry) Billups, Bonnie Jobe, Blythe Richards, Debra Swanberg, Natalie Rosemurgy, Carol (Jerry) Mandelke, Sharon (Duane) Lehnert, Cynthia (Jeffrey)Ryzewicz. Two Nephews, Jack (Betty) Jobe, and Leonard (Carolyn) Swanberg, and a cousin, Sue Scott.
Inurnment will be at the Riverside Memorial Cemetery. A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
