Obituary for Neaomi Matisin

Neaomi Matisin, 91 Of Hurley, passed away at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley on April 6, 2019.       She was born to Oscar Tieman and Nellie Lydia (Tripp) Wentzell December 21, 1927 in Moorhead, Minnesota. She married William J. Matisin on January 2, 1954 at Holy Trinity by the late Rev. Ambrose Matejik.      She attended Moorhead Schools and graduated High School in 1945. Neaomi worked as a credit clerk at Herbst Department Store in Fargo, North Dakota. She moved to Ironwood, in 1954. She worked for Hansen Glove factory, was a credit clerk for Sears Roebuck and worked for Cohodas-Paoli Company. She also worked as a bookkeeper/receptionist for 20 years for Dr. Robert Aukee’s Dental Office in Wakefield. Neaomi retired in 1992.      She was a member of Intercessory Prayer Group, Bible Study Bulletin, and former member and officer of the Holy Trinity Alter Society.      Neaomi was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William J. Matisin; In-laws, John and Anna Matisin; brothers, Kenneth, Merle, Orville Wentzell, and Charlotte Mulvaney.      Neaomi is survived by her brothers, James Wentzell of St. Paul, Minnesota and John (Mary) of Moorhead, Minnesota; sister, Donna Campbell of Moorhead, Minnesota; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew, and great great nieces and nephews.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 108 S. Marquette Street in Ironwood. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 am with Fr. Robb Jurkovich as celebrant, preceded by visitation at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service. There will be a luncheon to follow in the church Parish Hall.
