Obituary for Mayme K. Zadra

Mayme K. Zadra, 95, of
Ironwood, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, in Ironwood.      The former Mayme Guzzo was born March 25,
1916, in Bessemer, daughter of the late John and Johanna (Gheller) Guzzo,
attended St. Sebastian and Washington School, and graduated from A.D. Johnston
High School in 1934.      She was married to Leno A. Zadra on April 19,
1941, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer, by the late Rev. Charles
Swoboda. Leno preceded her in death on April 16, 2003.      Mayme was a member of Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood, a member and past local chapter president of AARP,
member and past president of the Auxiliary to Ironwood Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1823, and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a former member of
the Eagles Lodge, having held numerous offices. She enjoyed reading,
painting, crocheting and playing bridge.      Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Cheryl
Zadra, and grandson, Anthony Eugene Zadra, both of Westminster, Mass.; and
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.      Besides her parents and husband, Mayme was
preceded in death by a son, Eugene A., on Aug. 19, 2006; three brothers, Angelo,
James and Frank Guzzo; and three sisters, Antoinette Guzzo, Elda Selin and Rose
Michelli.      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation in the St. Joseph Family
Room at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Peace Church in Ironwood, with the Rev. Darryl
J. Pepin, celebrant.      Rite of Committal will follow in the St.
Joseph Family Room at the church.      Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery,
