Maureen C. Morzenti, 61, of Hurley, died peacefully Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Green Bay, surrounded by her loving family.      The former Maureen Pozzani was born Jan. 15, 1956, in Beloit, daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Cornolo) Pozzani. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Hurley and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1974. She then attended one year at WITC in Ashland.      Maureen was employed as office receptionist for Dr. David Pierpont in Ironwood, Mich. for 10 years and as a bookkeeper at Super One Foods for four years until illness forced her retirement.       She was married to Jon A. Morzenti on Dec. 11, 1982, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley by Fr. Joe Willger.      Maureen never let 24 years of declining health from a brain tumor operation dampen her outlook on life or her faith in God. Like her mother Elizabeth, Maureen was a person of strong faith and one who would always see the good in everyone. When Maureen was no longer able to attend Mass she looked forward  to Sunday morning when her dear sister Marcia would visit and bring her Communion. Maureen was, as her friend Angela called her, a “warrior”.       Maureen enjoyed many laughs and good times at cookouts and dinner parties with good friends Ray and Linda Kuduk, Glenn and Pat Miller and Andrew and Linda Vacca. She cherished her lifelong friendship with her three childhood friends, Angela Sicchio Cazan, Tina Secor and Carol “Ersie” Erspamer Lauscher. She enjoyed playing softball for many years and was a member of Gotta’s Troopers and Bruno and Bella’s Softball Teams. Before Maureen’s health prevented her from traveling she and her husband Jon vacationed far and wide in the lower 48 states exploring and enjoying the beauty of many of our National Parks.       Maureen’s kindness and compassion for others will be carried on through her four beautiful daughters. She was very proud of them and the fact that they all have careers in fields helping make the lives of others better. You could see the joy in Maureen’s smile when she held her grandchildren or when she surprised them with a “lollipop”.      Surviving are her husband, Jon, of 34 years; four daughters, Cora Morzenti (Shim), Green Bay, Hanna Morzenti (Andrew), Idaho Falls, Idaho, Olivia Morzenti (Ken), Green Bay, and Antonia Morzenti, Baltimore, Md.; four grandchildren, Abigail Sue, Anthony Jon, Thomas Charles and Adam Hamza; two brothers, Peter (Bobbie) Pozzani, Hurley, and Danny (Michelle) Pozzani, Montreal; two sisters, Andrea Soltis and Marcia Pozzani, both of Hurley; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Morzenti, Iron Belt, Donald Morzenti, Sullivan, Wis., David Morzenti, Milwaukee, Gary (Yvonne) Morzenti, Montreal, Virginia DeBenedictis, Syracuse, N.Y., and Patricia Morzenti, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.      Besides her parents, Maureen was predeceased by brothers-and sisters-in-law, Jim Soltis, Kenneth and Colleen Morzenti, Kathleen and John Gregory, Jean Morzenti and Paul DeBenedictis.       Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.       A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 20, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.       Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hurley.       Luncheon will be served in the parish hall upon return from the cemetery.       In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to your favorite charity or to one of the following organizations that put much joy and happiness into Maureen’s life: St. Mary’s Catholic Church Religious Education, Hurley Little League Girls Softball, Range Strikers Soccer Club and the Sky View and Villa Maria Nursing Home activity funds.         Local arrangements have been entrusted to McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood, Mich.
