Obituary for Mary Kushnir

Mary Aileen Kushnir, 82, of Cane Court, Ontonagon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at home. She was born October 17, 1934 in Green, Michigan daughter of the late Einar and Mary Alina (Honkavaara) Kangas. Mary attended Ontonagon schools and graduated from the Ontonagon High School with the class of 1952. She was employed at the First National Bank in Ontonagon. She also resided and was employed in the Boston area and Rhode Island. She returned to the Ontonagon and was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for 20 years until retirement. After retiring, she continued to do research at Victoria. She was married to Elden Wilmer Huttula, he preceded her in death. She was married to Raymond Kushnir, he preceded her in death. Mary is survived by a son, Scott (Lucy) Colman of Hamburg, Mich.; three daughters, Mari Lynn (Daniel) Faroni of Bessemer, Karen June (James) Dennis of Farmington, New Mexico and Robin Aileen (Robert) Dymond of Howell, Mich. Six grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, April, Nicholas, Jesse and Garrett; six great-grandchildren, Darian, Cami, Sophia, Kendra, Nickkoli, and Holee; her brother, Robert E. Kangas of Fowlerville, Mich; and a sister, Vernamae Hibbeln of Green, Mich. Private family services were held at the Frick-Zielinski Funeral Home in Bessemer. Rev. Jean B. Rencontre officiated. Spring Burial with graveside services will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon. Memorial Contributions can be made to AA or DOVE.
