Obituary for Marvin K. "Butch" Thiede

Marvin K. "Butch" Thiede, 74,
of 168 E. Northland Ave., Ironwood, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, in
Ironwood, with his children by his side, following a brief battle with
cancer.      He was born Aug. 5, 1936, in Covington, Mich.,
son of the late Glen and Hilma (Ahola) Thiede, and was raised in Hurley, Wis.
and attended school there.      Butch worked at the Bessemer Creamery and was
employed at White Pine Copper Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1997.      He enjoyed hunting and fishing and walking his
dog "Max". He was also an avid Detroit Tiger and Green Bay Packer fan. Butch
lived for his kids.      He met and was married to the former Dorothy
Fischer on Dec. 17, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ironwood, by the
late Rev. C.L. Harries. Dorothy preceded him in death on June 25,
2004.      Surviving are five sons, Glen, Wakefield,
Keith, Ironwood, Stacy (Roberta), Ironwood Township, and Terrence and Kyle, both
of Ironwood; three daughters, Julie (Shannon) Sertich, Dorothy "DJ" Anderson
(Dean Saari), and Darci (Joseph) Pisco, all of Ironwood; ten grandchildren,
William Korpela Jr., Annie (Myron) Bloshenko, Becky (Phil) Aho, Tammy Korpela,
Loni (Jon) Tudjan, Kristy Lynn (Tommy) Parsons, Drew and Chad Anderson, Anyssa
Davis, and Bryce Pisco; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Bloshenko, Alex Korpela
and Cooper Aho; a brother, Walter (Kathleen), Thornton, Colo.; two sisters,
Carol (Jim) Chiapuzio, Bessemer, and Kathy Thom, North Ridgeville, Ohio; a
brother-in-law, Bert Ahola, Ironwood; and numerous nieces and
nephews.      Besides his parents and wife, Butch was
preceded in death by a brother, Norman, and sister, Joanne Ahola.      Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 30,
at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in
Ironwood, with the Rev. Jean B. Rencontre officiating.      Committal will take place at the funeral home,
with luncheon to follow at Manny's in Ironwood.      Interment will be in Sunset Acres Cemetery,
Ironwood Township.      Relatives and friends may call at the funeral
