Obituary for Marian J. Butson

Marian J. Butson, 78, of E5412 Jackson Rd., Ironwood
Township, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, in her home, surrounded by her family,
following a courageous battle with cancer.      The former Marian J. Kurta was born April 1,
1932, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Michael and Justine (Kovales) Kurta, and
attended Ironwood schools.      She married Kenneth H. Butson on April 19,
1954, in Ironwood. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1997.      Marian was employed at Munsingwear in Ashland,
Wis., Simpson Electric Co. in Mercer, Wis., and Hansen Glove Factory in
Ironwood. She enjoyed motorcycle riding with her husband, horseback riding,
flower gardening and feeding the birds. A quiet person, Marian loved her home
and family and her Shih Tzu's "Gidget" and "Gizmo".      Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Wittig,
Ironwood Township; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister,
Jean (Marvin) Maki, Ironwood Township; two brothers, Michael (Delores) Kurta,
Gile, Wis., and Louis (Theresa) Kurta, Ironwood Township; numerous aunts,
uncles, nieces and nephews; and brother-and-sisters-in-law, George and Marilyn
Butson, Ironwood Township, Alice Romano, Kansas City, Mo., and Betty Kurta,
Erwin Township.      Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Lynn Butson; a brother, Bernard "Barney"
Kurta; and a sister, Dorothy O'Leary.      At Marian's request, there will be no funeral
services.      Cremation has taken place.      A private family gathering will be held at a
