Obituary for Margaret Marie "Marge" Raykovich (Rajkovich)

Margaret “Marge” Marie (Rajkovich) Raykovich, 89, a lifetime resident of Ironwood passed away peacefully and went home to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital with her loving son, Louis Raykovich, at her side.

Marge was born on June 25, 1932, in Hurley, Wisconsin, the daughter of Steve and Agnes (Punich) Rajkovich. She attended Hurley High School and graduated in 1950.

On September 13, 1952, Marge was united in marriage to Louis R. Raykovich, and they made their home in Ironwood. She was employed at Metz Glove Factory for many years and was a long-time member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood.

Marge was known for her love of animals, and she enjoyed feeding the local feral cats around the downtown area and the local birds and squirrels. She also volunteered for many years at HOPE Animal Shelter. She always had pet dogs and cats. “The lover of children and animals, large and small, she taught us to love them all.”

Marge is survived by one son, Louis S. (Doreen) Raykovich; her niece, Wanda (Craig) Easley, who was raised as a daughter; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; her loving kitty companion, Little Boy; and one sister, Helen (Mike) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Louis R. Raykovich on August 6, 1988; one infant son, Raymond Raykovich in 1970; four sisters, Louise, Mary, Katie and Agnes; and three brothers, Frank, John, and Steve.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the caring staff at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital to include all the attending doctors and the nurses at the East Nursing Station, especially to Linda, Maureen, and Cassie and to Fr. Dominic for his thoughtfulness and blessings.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home of Ironwood to honor Margaret’s legacy of life. You can leave a condolence or a tribute at mckevittpatrickfuneralhome.com.
