Obituary for Mae E. Lindquist

Mae E. Lindquist, 84, of 924 N. Hemlock St., Ironwood, died Wednesday May 11, 2011, in her home, under the care of Regional Hospice.      The former Mae Pearson was born May 8, 1927, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Fritz and Anna (Johnson) Pearson. She attended local schools and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1945. She then waitressed at the Elks Lodge in downtown Ironwood and was employed at the National Metals Bank for 20 years. Up until the time of her death, she worked at Lindquist Electric on Cloverland Drive in Ironwood.      Mae was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood and was formerly active at Bethany Covenant Church. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society and was a former member of the Ironwood Woman's Club. A great hostess, Mae loved to entertain family and friends with her wonderful cooking and baking. She loved to travel, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, making afghans and going to craft shows. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals, and loved her home on Little Star Lake in Manitowish Waters, Wis.      Mae was always positive and encouraging to her family and was proud of their accomplishments.        On June 18, 1949, she married Kenneth L. Lindquist at Bethany Covenant Church in Ironwood. He survives.      Also surviving are a son, Brian (Marie), Ironwood, and daughter, Susie (Terry) Nelmark, Duluth, Minn.; four grandchildren, Eric (Jenni) Nelmark, Coon Rapids, Minn., Melissa Nelmark, Superior, Wis., Monica Lindquist, Green Bay, Wis., and Krista Lindquist, Houghton; a great-granddaughter, Jaelyn Lindquist; a sister, Jean Maki, Wakefield; sisters-in-law, Marcie Pearson, Corinth, Miss., and Jean Wietzke, New Berlin, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.         Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers George, Carl, Lefty and Bing Pearson; and a sister, Dagny Pearson, in infancy.      Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m on Saturday, May 14, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 111 So. Curry St., in Ironwood, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Peggy Rose officiating.      Committal services and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Luncheon will be served at Tacconelli's in downtown Ironwood immediately upon return from the cemetery.       Pallbearers will be Eric Nelmark, Larry Maki, Chris Forslund, Paul Forslund, Lauri Maki and Dave Pearson.      Memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice, 100 S.
