Obituary for Loyd D. "Leroy" Wilbanks

Loyd “Leroy” D. Wilbanks 75, passed away on February 15, 2022, at Aspirus Medical Center in Wausau, Wisconsin.

He was born on December 23, 1946, in Middleton, Tennessee, the son of Bud Wilbanks and Mamie (Nixon) Wilbanks.

He married the love of his life, Jean (Brace) Wilbanks, on July 20, 1974; and they resided in Illinois where he worked for LIUNA local #152 until he retired in 2000 and moved to Ironwood, Michigan.

Loyd is survived by his wife Jean; daughters, Christine (Ron) Helmick of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Pamela Cooper of Ironwood, Michigan, Rebecca (Tracy) Walls of Beach Park, Illinois, Heather (Rob) Everett of Fife Lake, Michigan, and Hayley Cooper of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; one son, Charles Rodney Wilbanks of Bowling Green, Kentucky; grandsons, Brandon Cooper of Bessemer, Michigan, Adam Helmick of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Christopher Walls of Beach Park, Illinois, Michael (Lindsey) Walls of Greenville, South Carolina, Michael Wilbanks of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Ryan (Alicia) Wilbanks of Litchfield, Kentucky; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

He was happiest when he was watching westerns and “wrastlin”, and taking trips to the local casinos. He loved his old country music, especially Hank Williams Jr.

The family will be having a private service for family in the future.
