Obituary for Leroy K. Huff

Leroy K. Huff, 73, of Oma, died
Friday, June 25, 2010, in Hurley.
     He was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Libertyville,
Ill., son of the late Keith and Eureka (Schotanus) Huff, and attended grade
school in Roundout, Ill. and Pleasant Prairie,  and high school in Kenosha and
Libertyville.      He worked on construction in Arlington
Heights, Ill., and was employed as a truck driver for an excavating company in
Libertyville and with Peter Baker and Son Black Topping and Excavating in
Roundout. He then served stateside in the U.S. Army for six months, and moved to
Oma in Dec. 1970, working as a mechanic for area logging contractors until his
retirement in 1993.      Leroy enjoyed working on stock
cars.      He married Mary Brooks on Aug. 5, 1960. They
later divorced.      Surviving are two sons, Michael and Gary, and
a daughter, Lori (Dan) Penrose, all of Hurley; and five grandchildren, Shannon,
Ryan, Kayla, Tyler and Allison.      Besides his parents, Leroy was preceded in
death by a special friend and companion, Madonna Connell, on Sept. 19,
2009.      In accordance with his wishes, cremation has
taken place.      A memorial gathering in celebration of Leroy's
life will be held Saturday, July 10, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Bernie's Hideaway in
