Obituary for Lempi M. Kostac

Lempi M. Kostac, 96, a lifelong
Montreal resident, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in Hurley.      The former Lempi Tuominen was born Nov. 25,
1913, in Gile, daughter of the late August and Elizabeth (Kalliolahti) Tuominen,
and attended Montreal and Gile schools.      She married Joseph R. Kostac Jr. on Feb. 22,
1936 in Ironwood, Mich. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2001.      Lempi was employed in kitchen and housekeeping
work at the St. James Hotel in downtown Ironwood for several years, and in
domestic work for local families.      She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church
in Hurley, and the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montreal and its Altar
Society.      Surviving are two sons, David (Melinda),
Ironwood, and Dennis (Joan), Green Bay; four grandchildren, Katie (Rob) Carviou
and Marc Kostac, both of Green Bay, David Kostac, Hurley, and Kristie (Ron)
Nygard, Ironwood; four great-grandchildren, Devin, Baily and Tanner Kostac, and
Ron Nygard III; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Margaret
Tuominen, of Hurley.       Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by two brothers, Urho "Corky" and Gust Tuominen; and two
sisters in infancy.      In accordance with Lempi's wishes, cremation
has taken place.      A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May
11, at 11 a.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in
Ironwood, with the Rev. Michael Hayden, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Hurley, offciating.      Rite of Committal and inurnment will follow in
St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley.      Friends may call at the funeral home from 10
