Obituary for Kahlia Anne Balyeat

Kahlia Anne Balyeat, 18, of
Ironwood, Mich., died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 18, 2011, from injuries
sustained in an automobile accident in Hurley.      She was born Sept. 1, 1992 in Ironwood, the
daughter of John and Karen (Raymark) Balyeat. She attended Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Grade School through the sixth grade, and graduated from Luther L.
Wright High School in 2010. She had just completed her freshman year at Gogebic
Community College as a business major, and was currently employed as a desk
clerk at the Days Inn in Hurley.      Kahlia was a member of Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood. She enjoyed craftwork, playing soccer and
basketball, snowboarding, fishing, and camping with her family, and was a member
of the Ironwood Dance Company for many years. She loved her cat
"Pal".      Kahlia was a wonderful big sister to her two
little sisters. She was a free-spirit and treated each day as a
gift.      Surviving are her parents, John and Karen
Balyeat, Ironwood; two sisters, Kailey and Marissa, both at home; aunts and
uncles, John and Elaine McCullough and Bob and Naomi Stickney, all of Antigo,
Patricia Waller, Menasha, Kathy and Dallas Curtis, New Richmond, and Joanne
Balyeat, Hammond; special friends, Tom and Lee Gayan, Ironwood
Township; cousins, Chris and Nicole Stickney, Tyler and Travis McCullough,
Desiree Peite, Melissa, Lucas, Paul and Tessa Balyeat, and Mike Waller; and
many, many friends.       She was preceded in death by her paternal
grandmother, Anne Balyeat; maternal grandmother, Viola Raasch; and cousins,
Matthew and Michelle Waller.      Visitation will be Monday, May 23, from 10
a.m. until noon, in the St. Joseph Family Room at Our Lady of Peace Catholic
Church in Ironwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at noon,
with the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, celebrant.      Rite of Committal and interment will follow in
Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.      Luncheon will be served in the parish
hall immediately upon return from the cemetery.      Pallbearers will be Chris Stickney, Tyler
McCullough, Nicole Stickney, Travis McCullough, Jake Armata and Joanie
Maloney.       Memorial contributions may be made to the
