Obituary for Jon Anthony "Tony" Calgaro

Jon “Tony” Anthony Calgaro, 50, of Hurley, passed away on May 10, 2023 at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital.

He was born on August 29, 1972 in Sturgis, Michigan to Gerald and Mary (Vittone) Calgaro. Tony enjoyed fishing and spending time in nature. He had a loving family at SuperOne in Ironwood where he worked. Tony was a man of many talents and a congenial humanitarian. He was a warrior as he sought for justice & truth...the American way, usually by being informed by VCY radio. He was artistic & would endeavor to rebuild cars. He would not want to hurt or kill anything. If confronted with a fight he would talk himself out of it. Tony enjoyed this northwoods home away from the California busy city & traffic. His encouraging demeanor was evident when he would say, "Don't worry...we'll get it done. "

He is survived by his mother, Mary, Hurley; brother, Alan, Poway, CA; sisters, Lynn (John) Simmons, Chino Valley, AZ and Janette (Andrea) Brancado, Carlsbad, CA; nieces and nephews, Alexa (Kanj), Dominic, Gino Calgaro, and Liliana Brancado.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 11 a.m. at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ironwood. A visitation will be held prior beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Following the service a light luncheon will be held.

“Have a glorious day”
