Obituary for Joann Marie Langa

Joann Langa, 79, of Bessemer, passed away at home on Sunday, November 20, 2022, with her children by her side.

Joann was born on November 25, 1942, at Grand View Hospital to William and Selma (Johnson) Banfield. She grew up in Bessemer, MI and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1960. She then attended the Business Institute of Milwaukee and earned a diploma in Junior Accounting.

On July 4, 1964, Joann was united in marriage to Roger Langa at Sharon Lutheran Church in Bessemer. They made their home in Milwaukee, WI for a few years before returning to live and raise their children in Bessemer. Joann worked at Grand View Hospital and local area ski hills over the years, but she really loved selling her crocheted and knitted items at craft fairs. Joann also took great pride in being the family historian. If anyone needed to know a name, birthdate, etc., she had it all in her genealogy binders.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, her parents and all her brothers and sisters, Clarence (Sonny), Doug, William (Sugar), Keith, Ruth, Bernice Waurio, and Betty Jane Mazzoli.

Joann is survived by her children, Scott (Tina) Langa, Wakefield, MI and Pam Langa, Bessemer, MI along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, MI in the Banfield family plot in the spring.

The family would like to thank Regional Hospice Services for all their help.
