Obituary for Joan V. Strunk "Granny" Osterman

Joan V. "Granny" Strunk
Osterman, 79, of Ironwood, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Ministry St.
Clare's Hospital in Weston, surrounded by her family.
     The former Joan Hanisko was born May 3, 1932,
in Ironwood, daughter of the late Julius and Frances (Muckavitz)
Hanisko.
     She married Willie Strunk in 1948. He preceded
her in death in 1979.
     She then married Martin Osterman Sr. in 1981.
He preceded her in death in 2005.
     Joan worked for Macgregor/Brunswick for over
25 years in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was also employed at Ironwood Products and
Rigoni's Bakery for several years, and retired from her office manager position
at Art Unlimited in 1993. She loved her job at the Ironwood St. Vincent DePaul
store. Her main love was her family, especially the grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
     Joan was a member of Our Lady of Peace
Catholic Church in Ironwood.
     Surviving are a daughter, Carol, and son,
Marty Osterman, both of Ironwood; step-children, Joe (Donna) Osterman, Iron
Belt, Wis., Paul (Tana) Osterman, Hurley, Marge Negri, Marquette, Mich.,
and Mary Nelson, Wausau, Wis.; twelve grandchildren, Kevin (Cindy) Negri, Tim
(Janelle) Negri, Carrie Negri, Bill (Nikki) Osterman, Joe (Kathy) Osterman, Jim
(Amber) Osterman, Shannon Osterman (David Stephani), David (Carrie) Osterman,
Eric Golembeski, Brian (Roxanne) Osterman, and Hunter and Seth Osterman; 15
great-grandchildren, Hannah and Mason Negri, Claire, Brandon and Taylor
Woodward, Emily and Gabriella Osterman, Kelsea and Cayden Osterman, Kyle and
Mackenzie Osterman-Seeley, Casandra Wiedbrauk, Autumn Osterman, and Adam and
Austin Golembeski; sisters, Sharon (Butch) Barto, Hartland, Wis., Justine (Bob)
Genisot, Montreal, Wis., and Diane (Tom) Yelich and Eda (Tom) McGrath, both of
Ironwood; a brother, Brother Paul Hanisko CAP, Detroit; step-sister, Pauline
Aho, Gwinn; sisters-in-law, Georgia Tucker, Crossville, Tenn., Rose Bray,
Ironwood, and Rachel Hanisko, Gile, Wis.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
     Besides her parents and husbands, she was
preceded in death by her step-father, James Brack;  brother, Albert Hanisko; 
two sisters, Frances Connor and Celina Goyins; and step-sister, Eleanor
Lavin.
     Out of respect for Joan's wishes, cremation
has taken place.
     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, Aug 31, at noon, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood,
preceded by visitation beginning at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Family Room, with
the Rev. Darryl J. Pepin, celebrant.
     Rite of Committal and inurnment will follow in
Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
     Luncheon will be served in the parish hall
immediately upon return from the cemetery.
     All of Joan's grandsons will serve as honorary
pallbearers.
