Obituary for Irene J. Reini

Irene J. Reini, 82, of
Ironwood, died peacefully Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at home, surrounded by her
loving family.      The former Irene J. Sipponen was born June 22,
1929, in Ironwood, daughter of the late John and Helmi (Pickmosa) Sipponen, and
attended Ironwood schools.      A lifelong resident and homemaker, she was a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood and a former member of the Trinity
Lutheran Altar Guild. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, making baby quilts, and
various arts and crafts.      On Aug. 30, 1947, she was married to Reuben E.
Reini at the St. Paul Lutheran parsonage in Ironwood by the late Rev. Herman
Matero. Reuben preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1975.      Surviving are a son, Raymond (Jackie),
Ironwood; four daughters, Sharon (Paul) Lang, Dover, Del., Darlene (Richard)
Kinnunen, Ramsay, Robin (Michael) Thompson, Gwinn, and Cindy (Jeffrey) Simonar,
Ironwood; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis
(Lettie) Pelto, Green Bay, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.      Besides her parents and husband, Irene was
preceded in death by three grandchildren, Kirkland Lang, Sept. 21, 1972, Chelsey
Simonar, Feb. 12, 1996, and Carlisle Wood, July 4, 2010; two sisters, Lorraine
Korhonen, Jan. 25, 1981, and Viola Wiita, May 28, 2009; and infant twin
brothers, Frederick and John Sipponen.      Visitation will be Saturday, July 23, from
1:30 to 3:00 p.m., at the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in
Ironwood, where funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., with the Rev.
Wesley "Bo" Baumeister officiating.      Committal will take place at the funeral home,
with cremation to follow.      Private inurnment will be in Riverside
