Obituary for Henry "Hienie" Leinon

Henry "Hienie" Leinon, 91, of Second Ave. North, Hurley, died peacefully Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Hienie was born May 20, 1929, in Montreal, son of the late Henry J and Cecilia (Baron) Leinon, and was raised in Montreal and Hurley, where he attended Montreal Grade School and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1947. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, from 1951-1953.

He married the love of his life, Patricia A. "Tish" Trier on July 18, 1953, at the St. Mary's rectory in Hurley. Hienie dedicated himself to raising his large family and ran his carpet business, Leinon's Carpet, out of their home up until the time of his retirement. He was an active member of the Hurley Presbyterian Church. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, Hienie spent his later years enjoying his home with his wife and family. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

Besides his parents, Hienie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia A. Leinon; son, Paul David Leinon, in 1965; four brothers, Ray (Lillian) Leinon, Clyde (Marion) Leinon, Rolland Leinon, and Bill (Joyce) Leinon.

Hienie is survived by his seven children, Lee (Susie) Leinon of Gile, Julie (John) Cares of Columbus, Perry (Mary Kay) Leinon of Phillips, Sheri (Jerry) Moon of Menomonie, Marianne (Manny) Oradei of Rhinelander, Tammy (Herb) Levin of Osprey, Florida., and Ross (Elaine) Leinon of Montreal; nineteen grandchildren, Wes and Robin Leinon, Bryant (Gena) Mosconi, Leanne, Sheri (Adam) and Sam (Gabby) Cares, Brandon (Jessica) and Rachel Leinon, Crystal (Troy) Salisbury, Valorie (Joe) Donahue, Aaron, Henry and Natalie Moon, Emily and Joseph (Hannah) Oradei, Ayden Leinon, T.J, Sissy, and Nathaniel Jersett; nine great-grandchildren, Ryker, Piper, Layla, Cora, Madeline, Avery, Easton, Cohen, and Jack; one sister, Marlene (Paul) Masuga of Hurley; sisters-in-law, Norma Leinon of Hurley, Mary Lou Semo of Ironwood, Molly Backlund of Newark, Ohio, Jan Trier of Ironwood, and Peggy Trier of Indianapolis, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service celebrating his life has been scheduled.
